Common Chicago service calls
Much of our Chicago work is in two-flats, three-flats, bungalows, condos and older storefront buildings. That means a lot of steam and hot water boilers, radiators that heat unevenly, cast-iron and clay sewer lines, basement flooding and water heaters tucked into tight utility rooms.
Older buildings often have decades of repairs layered on top of each other. Our technicians look at the whole system before recommending a fix, because a new part on an old problem rarely lasts.
When to call
Call 773-250-6060 for no heat, a boiler that will not hold pressure, banging radiators, a backed-up floor drain, sewage odor, a leaking water heater or a sump pump that is not keeping up. If you smell gas, leave the building and call the gas utility or 911 from outside first.
For condo and rental buildings, let us know who manages the property and whether access to the boiler room or other units is needed, so the visit can be planned properly.
What to expect
We will ask what is happening and where the equipment is located. On site, the technician inspects the system, explains what was found and goes over options before starting work. Parking and access instructions are always helpful for city visits.
Before the technician arrives
Clear a path to the boiler, furnace, water heater or main drain, and move stored items away from the equipment. Keep pets in another room. If the building has a shared basement, make sure the technician will be able to get in. Have any past service paperwork handy, since it often shows which parts have already been replaced.
Tell us which part of the building is affected
A cold apartment with neighboring units still warm needs a different investigation from a building-wide loss of heat. Similarly, one slow sink is not the same complaint as water backing up through several basement fixtures. Describe the affected rooms, floors or fixtures and whether the problem is new or recurring. You do not need to identify the failed component before calling.
For a shared system, tell us who can authorize the work and provide access. Mention locked utility rooms, entry instructions and any restrictions on reaching the equipment. Our listed business address is the Des Plaines shop, not a separate Chicago office. Confirm the property address and proposed visit arrangements when contacting us; the neighborhood directory describes coverage, not a reserved appointment or an arrival-time promise.
